Our friend Michelle just handed over this gorgeous Liz stocking, and I have to show you a few of the six million details in this design. The beards on the three Santas are subtly different. I particularly like her solution to shading and texture on the greenery, as the plain background with well placed long stitches allows the ornaments to shine. She experimented with the strings on the violin until they looked just right. And while up close the shading on the faces looks strong, from a distance it is perfect. These are not quick projects, but then, it is not generally a race. Whether you are thinking of a small, simple piece, or something like this, I hope you can take time to enjoy the process.
